Chiropractic Care
Retracing
A common question chiropractors get asked is does getting adjusted hurt? When people start care, there are three possibilities…
- You may feel better quickly and progress fast towards correction.
- You may feel worse initially before you start to get better. This is usually quite easily taken care of.
- The vast majority experience steady progress, noticing change as their subluxation patterns correct. There may be some ups and downs along the way as your body changes.
Retracing is going over ground which has already been covered until you reach the point from where you started. While you are under chiropractic care, symptoms may re-appear which have not been around for months, or even years.
Your first impression may be that things are getting worse. This is not necessarily true. Think of it as retracing the steps you took on a walk. You can’t skip steps, you must revisit each and every one. Retracing is a very individual thing. For many, they barely notice anything while some may have quite a severe response.
Much of this depends on the complexity of the subluxation pattern and how well you stick with your adjustments and home care.
Positive Outlook
Most people, whether they admit it or not, fear change about as much as anything. For many, the mere thought of doing something different can be very stressful.
Never forget the physical, chemical and emotional components of the subluxation complex. Doubt, uncertainty, frustration and fear can all work against you getting the results you want.
Trust and know that you are taking the first few steps on a journey that is designed to help you regain your health and enjoy doing the things you love.
